DesignPro Renewables have an excellent opportunity for an experienced researcher to get involved in a renewable energy project under the SFI Industry Fellowship Programme. The company is developing and commercialising small-scale hydrokinetic turbines as part of our EU funded Horizon 2020 SME Instrument project.
Potential Research Project
DesignPro Renewables are open to discussing projects presented by researchers and/or projects that relate to the following themes:
- Remote identification of high potential resource areas;
- Analysis of the interaction of the turbines and their environment or
- Mooring design and stress modelling.
Requirements
Applicants must be a permanent member of the academic staff of an eligible Irish Research Body, or a former or current contract postdoctoral researcher in an eligible Irish Research Body, or the holder of a PhD degree awarded by an eligible Irish Research Body.
Expertise in the following areas would be beneficial for this project:
- Environmental Impact Assessments (particularly in rivers);
- Socio-Economic Research;
- Marine Environmental Research;
- Community Impact or
- Marine Engineering.
Experience in renewable energy river deployments or hydrokinetic river turbines would be a distinct advantage.
Duration and Structure of the Fellowship
For full-time fellowships, Researchers can spend up to 12 months working on the project. Full-time fellowships are preferred but part-time fellowships are also possible. Applicants will be assessed on a case by case bases depending on project proposed.
